The Michigan Economic Development
Corporation (MEDC) awarded CLT a grant to develop a low cost
diode laser of unprecedented performance. This technology will
be transferred to a Michigan based laser manufacturer while
opening up new applications for the laser in automotive
manufacturing and in the homeland security markets. In
addition, the MEDC awarded two other grants to CLT. One grant
was for laser processing technologies for the packaging and
assembly of alternative energy sources and storage devices, such
as high capacity batteries and fuel cells. The other grant
involves joining of dissimilar materials which is of particular
importance to the fields of optoelectronic and
micro-electromechanical (MEMS) and bio-MEMS devices which are
used extensively in the telecommunication and medical
implant/device industries. |
